History of Our Place Society

History of Our Place Society

July 15, 2014/in Videos /by caorda

Our Place was formed by the alliance of the Upper Room and Open Door, two organizations providing services in downtown Victoria for the disadvantaged. The Upper Room Society began as a soup kitchen in 1967 and later added transitional housing for men. The Open Door had its start as a Drop-In Centre in 1986. Each facing their own unique challenges, the two organizations developed a plan to merge. Together, they built a new facility, what is today called ‘The Our Place Society’.
