New Roads Men’s and Women’s treatment centres are programs of Our Place Society and serve those on Vancouver Island. The programs offer structured daily programing to assist individuals in achieving their overall recovery goals and objectives.

How long is the program?

9 to 24 months.

What does it cost?

Covered by Income Assistance and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) benefits. Residents keep their comfort allowance.

Self-funded cost: $45/day.

Do you accept methadone, Kadian, Suboxone, or Sublocade?

Yes.

Do you accept opioids or benzodiazepines?

No.

Do you accept testosterone?

Assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Is detox required before admission?

Yes, detox must be completed first.

Are there restrictions for admission?

Yes. We cannot accept individuals with sexual assault or arson charges, unstable mental health, or major physical limitations (Men’s facility is not mobility accessible). Residents are required to participate in all aspects of the program. All active warrants must be vacated.

Do you accept individuals from hospital, jail or on bail?

Yes.

Is the program co-ed?

No, the men’s and women’s programs are separate.

Can individuals self-refer?

Yes.

The program has four phases:

Orientation, primary recovery, early re-entry, and re-entry.

Residents earn privileges as they progress:

  • Orientation (6–8 weeks): Focus on treatment plan. No cell phones or computers and no access to Centre phones or have weekend visitors.
  • Primary recovery (~6 months): Treatment plan implementation. Use Centre phones and have weekend visitors. No cell phones or computer access.
  • Early re-entry and re-entry: Access to cell phones, computers, and gradual community reintegration. Steps toward moving out of the Centre.
