Easter at Our Place 2017
Community comes together to serve over 700 meals to the homeless and impoverished of Greater Victoria. Local politicians and dignitaries joined Our Place volunteers and staff to make everyone feel like family this Easter by not only serving a special meal, but taking the time to listen to those whose voices are often the last to be heard.
Over 700 of Victoria’s most vulnerable citizens joined Our Place’s family table for a special Easter meal on Tuesday, April 11 through the generous support of donors, community groups and volunteers. City leaders and special guests will be rolling up their sleeves to dish out a full meal of roast pork, mashed potatoes, garden veg and gravy. And for dessert, peach crisp. “The need is greater than ever,” says Don Evans, executive director of Our Place. “People from all walks of life are struggling to make ends meet. Serving an Easter meal to those who might otherwise go without is just one small way of showing that we are here to listen, share and support.”
